Okay...so what is all this talk about yoga equipment and supplies? Don't you just need some space on the floor and a little bit of quiet? Well, you certainly could do some yoga with just that. However, if you are just starting out and/or are serious about doing yoga (meaning you plan to keep on doing it), you will need to get yourself some yoga equipment and supplies. At a bare minimum, this should include a yoga mat, a yoga mat bag if you are taking yoga classes outside of the home, and a small assortment of yoga clothing. Speaking of clothing, this is important, even workout clothes will not give ample freedom to move, which is very important if you want to make the most of your yoga sessions. If you are new to doing yoga and want to practice it from the comfort of your home, you should also consider purchasing an instructional yoga video and a CD that is conducive to doing yoga. Indeed, yoga has a meditative feel to it, so be sure to choose yoga music that is soft, mellow and soothing. Now, for the more serious yoga Aficionado, you are certainly going to need to mull over some more yoga equipment, which will include yoga blocks, balls, bolsters, yoga ropes and straps, back bending benches, head standers and maybe even an inversion sling. All of these tools greatly help to complement a demanding and comprehensive yoga routine. Granted, some stores will offer a broader selection of yoga equipment than others - some of which you may or may not particularly need. When shopping around for yoga supplies, the idea is to find a company that is either a dedicated yoga equipment store or is a fitness store offering a side selection of yoga equipment and supplies. Remember to assess your particular needs ahead of time. If you plan on attending a yoga class, you will definitely want to get yourself some yoga apparel, a mat and maybe a mat bag. Hold off on the other yoga supplies until you know you need them.
