Organic wine...the very name sounds great...right? Natural and delicious. Finding truly organic wines can prove to be difficult though. The true definition of organic wine versus what we think we are drinking to be organic, can be a bit dicey. To become truly organic, wine must be more than "made with organic grapes". Certified organic wines contain no added sulfites (sulfur dioxide). Unfortunately, most wines have added sulfites for stability.

We all want stability and reliability in our wine whether it's organic or not. That is why it is very important to read dependable information about organic wines (any any wine really) before you purchase. For those of us wine drinkers and hobbyists out there that are looking for the best possible truly organic wine products, " no added sulfites" should not be a deterrent. It is the same for vegan wine consumers. Just because "experts" caution you that organic wines can be very unpredictable in flavor and consistency (due to the inability to add sulfites) should in NO WAY deter you from finding a great varietal and enjoying several great wines. In fact organic wines do taste better just as any other non-chemically induced product for consumption does.

People tend to get caught up in the negativity of "no added sulfites". They worry that the wine they are about to buy may be not as good as others. That is absolutely an ineffective and unproductive way of thought. After all, consuming wine is about more than just a guaranteed flavor - it is about tasting, finding, and enjoying a wine - no matter what type you enjoy typically. That being said, enter into organic wine purchasing as you would buying any type of wine. We actually did some comprehensive searching for ourselves here at SaveWithGreen.com into the organic wine industry. Be sure to take a look at the companies we have linked to above. We found some great companies that offer organic wines from all over the world. If you are in the US, depending on what state you reside, many of these mail order companies can help get you the great tasting wines you desire right to your doorstep. We highly recommend joining wine clubs if you are interested in tasting a variety of wines that are organic rated. This way you get a new varietal each month or so to try. After you decide what is best for you, order specific types. Remember, have fun, taste and discover.
