JANUARY,
2008 NEWSLETTER
Following
last month's newsletter we were hoping to hear the
Interior Department's decision on whether to classify
the polar bear as "threatened" on the Endangered Species
Act (one step lower than endangered). Unfortunately, the
Interior Department has stalled its decision for another
month, which some critics say is because their are
current talks with the Interior Dept. to lease prime
polar bear habitat in question to oil and gas drilling
interests. For more information on this story, see our
news for the month listed further down in the
newsletter.
