December
has been a great month for sustainability and going
green. In regards to energy, the monumental Energy
Independence and Security Act was passed, which mandates
better fuel economy, energy efficiency and increased
production of alternative fuels. For January, we turn
our attention to more pressing issues, such as the Bush
administrations attempts to pass legislation that would
open the Sequoia National Monument for old-growth
logging. Also, a key decision by the Secretary of
Interior is due on whether or not to put the polar bear
on the Endangered Species list.
