Of all the meditation supplies offered through the above stores, we strongly feel the two most important to be music and incense supplies - and not just any music and incense supplies. Obviously, the type of music that is most conducive to meditating is of a serene and peaceful nature. The vibrations of the music are what should be paid attention to. That which moves us to go inward and become reflective makes for excellent meditation music. Nature sounds, such as ocean waves rolling on the beach shore, are also excellent choices. But just because something is slow and low key does not mean it is the best listening option. Some CD's labeled as meditation music can be too hypnotic or or dark. If it does not bring you peace and quiet and make you feel good, it's not the right mediation music for you. And since we each respond differently to different tones of music, it's best to always listen to a sample of the album first or to at least read a detailed review of the of the music itself. Nature CD's are pretty self-explanatory and so prior listening is not as important. Nor is it necessary to listen to CD's if you are already familiar with the artist's work. When it comes to incense supplies, a careful assessment is also in order. You probably already know that not every incense is created equal. There is some real cheap stuff out there, which in essence, is really just artificial perfume. Just like meditation music, incense creates a particular vibration in the air when it is burned. It's not just about the smell of the incense. It is the act of burning the incense which is most important. Most spiritual and religious traditions view the burning of incense as a rite of purification. It is a symbol of one's prayers rising to the Heaven's above. Another way of looking at it is as a symbol of one's visualization being projected into the Cosmic. More esoterically speaking, the transformation of the incense into smoke, purified and cleansed by the fire, represents the internal transformation taking place within the seeker. However deep you want to go down the rabbit hole, the bottom line is that burning incense goes hand-in-hand with meditating. And yes, it smells really good too! The universal use of incense is exactly why there are dedicated incense supply stores, offering everything from single incense sticks to wholesale supplies. When it comes time to purchase incense supplies, look for incense that has a distinct smell. The stuff that all smells the same, even if it's given a different name, is cheaply made and not worth buying. While you can get the cheap stuff practically free (that should tell you something), it is definitely worth paying a little more for higher quality, higher vibratory incense. Keep in mind that all of the incense supply stores listed on this page only offer authentic incense, which also happens to be the most affordable, top quality incense online. |
